OUTFITS

What to wear to your brand photoshoot!

I am not a stylist BUT I can tell you this, outfits are not what makes or breaks your session. What's important is that you FEEL comfortable. Physically and mentally. When you're feeling good in what you're wearing the energy of that has a far greater impact than what you are you are actually wearing.

With that said, here's everything you need to know about how to put together outfits that you love, that feel like you and are totally on-brand.

01

How many outfits?

Outfits are a great way to introduce variety in your session. Although I don’t limit outfits, I do have guidelines based off my experience for the length of shoot you’ve chosen. Quick changes are always recommended so that we can spend our time creating. We’ll aim for about 5 minutes max per outfit change.

Outfit suggestions:

  • For Express Sessions have up to 2 outfits planned.

  • For a 2 hour shoot have 2-4 outfits planned.

  • For a 3 hour shoot have 4-6 outfits planned.

  • For a 4+ hour shoot have 6-10 outfits planned.

  •

Consider layering options too! Sweaters, cardigans, blazers and jackets are a really great way of switching up a look and saving time.

02

How to choose your outfits!

For branding your closet is a great place to start. You want your items to feel like you so you likely already have some items that will work.

That being said photoshoots are a great time to treat yourself to a few new items if you can swing it. You can also borrow from a friend, check out a local consignment store or buy and return. Buying and returning is something people do often for shoots just be mindful of where tags are located (we don’t want those in your photos) and of course keeping the item(s) in resell-able condition.

03

How to incorporate colour in your outfits!

Your outfits can be an incredible tool for incorporating your brand colours into your photoshoot! I highly recommend having at least one pop of colour in your clothing options that are complimentary to your brand. Don’t worry it doesn’t have to be an exact match but just in same tones/family of your colours!

Your other outfits can be a mix of neutral tones or supporting colours. Avoid choosing colours/patterns that clash with your brand.

If you do not have your brand colours sorted yet or you plan on doing a rebrand in the near future - stick to neutrals for now so that your choices go with anything that gets created for you down the line.

04

When to plan your outfits!

Trust me when I say you don’t want to leave this to the last minute. Plan your outfits at minimum 2 weeks before your photoshoot day. This will give you the opportunity to go through what you have and make sure you still feel good in your clothes, that they fit well, and are in good condition.

From there you should still have enough time to go shopping if you need! There’s nothing worse that scrambling last minute because the jeans you planned on wearing don’t quite fit the way you remember.
